New Silhouette
Marieke Beekhuijzen is the owner of New Silhouette and started her own salon at home 17 years ago; then called Kapsalon Hij-Zij. Soon she discovered her passion for training apprentices and always worked closely with them. This collaboration led to success as it resulted in a top-notch apprentice who stuck around, provided growth and has now been employed for 12.5 years.
After working at home for 7 years, it was time for the next step and real premises became a reality. Here, too, we experienced 7 great years and grew to a team of four. Unfortunately, after the second lockdown, we were forced to move because the owner of the building had other plans. That was a big deal for us, but in the end this experience turned out to be extremely positive. We found a beautiful property in Molenhoek, just 2 km away from our previous salon, and expanded from 50 m² to 180 m²! This space offered not only more comfort but also new opportunities for further growth. And that certainly succeeded. Since September 1, we have expanded to seven talented employees.
The name New Silhouette was thought up by Marieke herself and came about after she moved into the first premises from home. Clients go home with a new cut, thus a new silhouette. Marieke made a conscious decision not to include her own name, believing that this growth has not been possible without her girls. 'We do it together. As a team!
Our distinguishing feature is that, in addition to doing good work professionally, we find hospitality very important. Hospitality, attention to the customer and especially being able to be yourself. Customers find the atmosphere in our salon very pleasant. There is a large couch where clients can wait to give a living room feeling. A good dose of humor and at times a good conversation makes it a nice experience for a customer.
The move to digitization was quite new for us! Personally, I found a paper diary especially convenient. However, since we have been working with Aimy, I have a much better (financial) overview. The ability to gain insight into who turns in what, the handy quick scan, accurate vacation registration, the fact that customers receive an email confirmation and reminder, make Aimy's online booking system particularly valuable. Working with Aimy makes the salon even more professional.
'If something is not clear, we can always go to them fairly immediately with our questions. We are always helped in a friendly and open manner. The online agenda, clear cash layout and insightful reports, are indispensable for both me and the accountant for smooth and efficient business operations. We couldn't do without Aimy at all!
